Pamela Anderson Playboy nude shoot almost didn't happen as she had to 'sneak into US'

Pamela Anderson has revealed that she "snuck across the border" to pose for Playboy after being told "you can't work in America".

The Canadian-born Baywatch icon has opened up about her life, loves and career in the new Netflix documentary Pamela, A Love Story, which is set to air on the streaming service on January 31, 2023.

Pamela can be heard explaining in the documentary that after working as the "Blue Zone girl" for a Canadian football team, she was approached to model on the cover of Playboy magazine.

Pamela can be heard saying: "They were going to get me down to LA, but I'd never been on a plane before, so I had my problems at the airport.

"They said, 'what are you doing in LA?' and I said, 'I'm posing for Playboy.' I remember showing them my letter that I got from [Hugh] Hefner and everything, and they were like 'oh no, no, no. You're Canadian, you can't work in America.' I was like, 'what?'"

The star tried to board a plane a second time, but encountered further problems, saying: "I went into the bathroom, changed my clothes, put a hat on, went to another airline and I get to there and the same lady was there like this, 'nice try'."

After two attempts to board a plane, Pamela then snuck across the border from Canada to America via coach, before finally flying down to Los Angeles to secure the job that would launch her to fame.

"The only other way to get through – get on a greyhound bus, and sometimes they check you, sometimes they don't across the border. It really made me nervous. But they only checked the person in front of me and behind me, so I got into America, to Seattle," said Pamela.

She added: "The next morning I got on the plane and they got me down to LA."

It is just one of a number of stories in the new documentary, which is an intimate and humanising portrait of one of the world’s most famous blonde bombshells, and follows the trajectory of Pamela Anderson’s life and career from small town girl to international sex symbol, actress, activist and doting mother.

Pamela, A Love Story airs on Netflix on January 31, 2023.
